How VPNs Affect Your IP Geolocation
A VPN routes your internet traffic through an encrypted tunnel to a server in another location. Websites see the VPN server IP instead of your real IP, making it appear you are browsing from the VPN server location. This is why connecting to a US VPN server lets you access US-only content. However, geolocation services can detect VPN usage through several methods: checking against known VPN IP ranges, detecting the mismatch between your DNS location and IP location, and analyzing connection patterns. Some services block VPN IPs entirely. Premium VPNs maintain dedicated IP addresses that are harder to detect. No VPN provides complete anonymity; your traffic can potentially be correlated through timing analysis and other advanced techniques.
